So I just moved down to Cape Cod for the summer and haven't had internet until today. I don't know how people survived before the internet was invented. I almost went crazy after four days without it. Anyways, I'm still in disbelief over the fact that the Celtics are one win away from the finals. Even so, this game is a must-win. You can't expect to go back to Miami and win a game 7, especially when two of the best players in the world stand in your way.
8:57- Lebron is feeling it as he hits a contested three. 17 points already.
9:02- 19 points now for Lebron. If the Heat lose this game, I'm sure people will still find a way to blame it on Lebron.
9:03- The Bostrich gets his name on the score sheet.
9:06- I'm surprised to say that the officiating has been very good so far. The zebras are letting the players bang a bit.
9:07- So at the end of one, it's 26-16 Miami. I honestly feel more comfortable with the Celtics down 10 than when they're up 10 considering how notorious they are for blowing double digits leads. Even so, they gotta find a way to slow Lebron down, or this series is headed back to Miami.
9:15- Ray hits a wide open three off a good feed from Dooling.
9:19- Jesus Christ. Lebron is 8-9 from the field. This is why he's the best player in the world ladies and gentlemen. I don't care if you hate him as a person, you can't knock his game. And just like that a quick 6-0 run puts Miami up by 13. The Celtics are stagnant on offense right now. They need to focus on at least keeping the deficit manageable heading into the half, like they did in game 5 when they shot the ball terribly for the first 24 minutes, yet saw themselves only trailing by 2 at the break.
9:25- Lebron with 22 only five minutes into the second quarter. At this rate, Lebron may single-handily win this game for Miami.
9:27- Another sloppy turnover by the C's. You can't give the Heat extra possessions when Lebron is playing like he is right now. 29 points halfway through the second isn't going to cut it.
9:29- Pierce commits his third foul. Things couldn't be going much worse for the Celtics right now. Damage control is necessary over the final 5 minutes of the half.
9:32- Haslem quiets the crowd after four quick points by the C's. Speaking of Haslem, does he have the ugliest facial hair ever?
9:40- And the ever-so-entertaining double flop by Rondo and Chalmers right there. Nothing's funnier than watching a slow motion replay of two grown men go flying in opposite directions after minimal contact.
9:42- Very quietly, Rondo has 19 first half points.
9:43- I don't know if I've ever seen Lebron look so hungry and motivated. After seeing that put-back slam, I honestly think he is the most athletic human being ever to live. 6' 9", 270 pounds, could probably run a 4.4 forty, and can hit his head on the rim. He's gotta have the luckiest genes ever. I mean, at age 18 this dude was already a beast and easily could've played professional football.
9:52- Serious question. Can Lebron keep this up? Like, can he drop 60? He's gotta cool off doesn't he?
10:04- Key to the second half. Stop turning the ball over!
10:07- And that's not how I hoped the half would start. Wade and Lebron with two very difficult shots and the lead balloons to 17.
10:10- Pierce misses another shot. It seems that everyone has ignored/overlooked Pierce's dismal play through most of these playoffs. Save for a few games, he has shot very poorly. In fact, he's only shooting 36% from the field.
10:14- Great finish by Pierce in transition and the leads down to 10. This is a crucial stretch for the C's. Everytime they have cut into Miami's lead, the Heat go on a run to squash all momentum and quiet the crowd.
10:16- And on que, Miami's lead is back to 15. Pierce is really struggling. Can't finish on a great feed by Rondo, and he is now only 2-10 in the game. He needs to start being aggressive and get to the free throw line.
10:24- Back to a 10 point lead for the hundredth time. And just like that, Lebron nails a three in Pietrus' face. Wow. I have no words.
10:28- If there's any good news it's that OKC was losing by double digits for a lot of game 6 last night, until they came roaring back in the fourth. So far, these two series have followed each other to a T. The Spurs win the first two games at home; Miami wins the first two games at home. Everyone books a Spurs-Heat final. Then OKC and the Celtics win three in a row, including stealing game 5 on the road. And of course, last night OKC came back from double digits down to close out the Spurs on their home-court. Let's hope the C's continue this pattern and can come back from 13 down in the fourth. But as long as Lebron is playing like he is now, this series is headed back to Miami.
10:37- Wade with two quick baskets. It seems like the blueprint for Miami is to let Lebron go off in the first three quarters and then have Wade take the fourth.
10:39- The lead is up to 18. The Heat D is suffocating the Celtics. Their offense is once again stagnant and they haven't been able to hit open shots all night. With Lebron and Wade feeling it, this game is over. Now a daunting game 7 in Miami awaits, with a confident Heat squad, and more importantly a confident Lebron, holding the advantage. Like in game 5, the Celtics don't have to play perfect, they just have to play perfect in certain situations. I hate to say it, but realistically, I give the C's a 25% chance to win game 7. Officially entering depression mode and preparing myself mentally for the major let down of blowing a 3-2 series lead for the second time in the big 3 era.
10:48- Honestly a baffling performance by the Celtics. It seems like Lebron's crazy performance just sapped all their energy. Instead of weathering the storm they hung their head. But in such an important game, to not only get beat, but to get destroyed is mind boggling. Paul Pierce was an absolute no show. Rondo pulled his usual Jekyll and Hyde antics. 19 points in the first half but completely disappeared in the second half. No one could make an open shot to save their life.
11:00- I'm so disappointed. Objectively I obviously believe the Heat will win game 7. I don't see how anyone could bet money against them on their home floor, after this performance. Even so, I'm gonna keep the faith. Let's go Celtics!
